Sorrow and best wishes
April 19, 2012

Ladies, Gentlemen,

Solitary and Champ have resigned (yet staying as counsellors) from active duty as administrators. They have accomplished great deeds, tasks and spent countless hours to help the league sail smoothly.

There are no words in any language that could describe how much we will miss them. They are very rare finds.

It was an honor for all of us to have worked, played and learned from them. They were assets that cannot be replaced.

Champ, from the UK, assisted with the scoring and ensured that everything was dealt with in regards of matches. He worked insane hours to help with the league. These hours cannot be sustained in the long run as he has college and a life to live.

Solitary is in the same position, aside the insane hours. My friend, you deserve this break. You have shown us that you can be very professional yet able to maintain the fun through this ride in hell.

We wish them the best of luck with their studies and their future jobs. You will be very fine professionals.

From the entire FTWGL crew:

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will always be there for you as you were for us. We will never forget your efforts and personalities.

Welcome to our newest Ops Team member

New FTWGL Admins
March 20, 2012

Congratulations to Geordi and Bizzy, two new FTWGL admins :)

Torture them as you please, but beware of the ban hammer.

News is missing from mid-November 2011 to late-March 2012

In Fall 2011, FTW had switched from our old EGL platform to a temporary new site because EGL suddenly broke when there was a PHP upgrade on the server. (At that time, all the old news was lost. I have restored a lot of that news below, but some of it is still missing around Seasons 4 and 5.)

Then in spring 2012, the temporary site was replaced with the new Drupal site, at which time it appears that the news from mid-November 2011 until late-March 2012 was also lost. [How well the new Drupal site worked out is... another story.]

During that winter was: the rest of the beta cup, the conclusion to the map contest, and the start of season 6. Although, it appears that there may not have been much season 6 news anyway, because apparently the admins were mostly sticking to the forums and neglecting the front page news during season 6.

Eventually I hope to fill in this blank by either somehow recovering the old news (unlikely) or at least grabbing some info from the forums data.

Sign up for the Beta Cup!
November 12, 2011

I'm running a short FTW competition called the Beta Cup.

This will be a 6 game 'mini-season', with mixed CTF and TS, followed by a small single elimination playoffs for the top teams.

The maps to be used for this competition are ut4_poland_b4 and ut4_oaks_b2, both maps from the FTW map competition. The purpose of this tourney (aside from some much needed off season action) is to get real feedback on these maps from real matches, so that the mappers can improve them based on YOUR input! And then, in week 3 of the competition we will play *new* final versions of the maps after which time there will be a poll for players to vote which map is the best. Note: for players who use the bumpy client, you also need this file: bumpy files for ut4_oaks (normal non-bumpy Urt clients do not need this file)

Sign up for the competition here:
