Double Elimination
I think there needs to be a loser's bracket. Getting dropped in the third round because you're playing a final's level match sucks. I don't mean to brag, but I could count on half a hand the number of players who can consistently beat me in 1v1. Despair is an insanely good player (otherwise I wouldn't have him on my starting lineup), but we both admitted that was a shitty match and not representative of either of our skill levels (he played bad rd 1, we both did okay rd 2, I blew dick round 3). Round 2 was reflective of how it should have gone. Look at round 3...18-6. Anybody in UrT can tell you I could not lose that bad to any player. Obviously I should have taken the match more seriously and practiced before hand, but I feel like I was cheated out of the tournament by having a particularly bad game. If despair and I played a 100 games, I doubt either of us could win more than 55. In a close matchup like that, it comes down to who doesn't choke for no reason, which is what happened to me. Don't get me wrong, Despair won square and fair and deserved to win, but I don't think I deserved to be eliminated from the tournament in only week 3. I am better than every one of the losers in week 4 but they're the ones who got easy matches week 3.
I suggest a loser's bracket because purposely seeding week 1 to ensure lopsided matches early on is wrong. I like hard matches. Map 1 and 2 against Despair were great fun (map 3 was shit from the start, couldn't land a shot to save my life, literally) and week 2 against Mofo was a fun match too. There's another player who should have gone much further (on second though, he's a dirty /sub wallhacker, so he got what he deserved:D). The winner of the loser's bracket should take on the winner of the winner's bracket. This would likely end up being the same matchup anyway, if the 2 players in the final match are the 2 best in the tournament. What a loser's bracket does is make completely fucking up a map or 2 a mistake you can rectify. I get the point of single elimination, but I don't think this tournament is big enough that switching to double elimination would incur much extra work. If it's too much work for the current admins, get more or make the site more efficient.[/b]
Double Elimination would be nice. But those who forfeit would not get automatically dropped to a loser's bracket. If you forfeit, you forfeit from the tourney.
